Alan also offers remote video sessions via on-line platforms (Zoom, MS Teams, Skype etc) or by telephone. This can facilitate clients who find it difficult to attend sessions in-person for various reasons and it has also become increasingly popular and relevant since the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Research has shown that many people are finding “virtual” therapy models to be just as effective as in-person sessions in helping with a range of mental health issues such as depression, anxiety, stress, low self-esteem, PTSD and more. Alan has completed training in the professional delivery of counselling and psychotherapy sessions on-line and is experienced in doing so.
An initial “contracting session” is conducted to help the client to decide if this modality works for them. Aspects such as payment, timing of sessions, confidentiality and technology are discussed and any other questions the client may have can be answered. Video sessions begin each time with the client connecting to a link that has been sent in advance, usually via email.
